Cassette brings a French bistrot focus to Covent Garden

A neighbourhood restaurant team is making a move into central London. Cassette, from Mark Gurney and Matthew Bushnell of Levan, brings a French bistrot concept to 42 Maiden Lane in Covent Garden.

In an interview published by Glassette on 22 September, the team gave 23 September 2026 as its public opening date. That is the announced date, rather than an independently observed opening by MenuRoom.

What is the idea?

Cassette’s own website describes modern French cooking and a seasonal à la carte menu, with meat, fish and plant-based options. It advertises lunch and dinner seven days a week.

The move offers a new central address for diners interested in the Levan team’s work. Whether the food delivers is a question for a visit, not something an opening announcement can establish.
